Radian Names Former FHA Commissioner Montgomery to Its Board
Radian Group Inc. has appointed Brian D. Montgomery, former Commissioner of the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and Assistant Secretary of the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD), to its board of directors.
Most recently, after completing his second term at the HUD, Montgomery was assistant secretary. Prior to his last role as assistant secretary, Montgomery served two separate terms as FHA commissioner, 2005-2009 and 2018-2020. He served on the Radian board of directors for the first time from 2012-2017 and joined the FHA commissioner after his appointment to the HUD back.
“We are delighted to welcome Brian back to the Radian Board of Directors and congratulate him on his second term at HUD,” said Herb Wender, Radian’s chairman. “Brian’s tremendous expertise and ingenuity have been of great value to the HUD, and so has his return to the Radian board. We look forward to his contribution to Radian’s ongoing work to bring affordable and sustainable home ownership to more Americans. “
In addition to serving with HUD, Montgomery served on the Federal Housing Finance Board from 2005-2008 and served on the board of NeighborWorks America from 2005-2009 and 2018-2021. From 2001-2005, Montgomery served in the White House as Assistant Assistant to the President, including as Cabinet Secretary from 2003-2005.
“I am excited to resume my work in support of such an innovative and progressive company,” said Montgomery. “Radian stands out from the competition in a number of ways – most notably, its commitment to providing new and better mortgage and real estate solutions and helping borrowers realize their dream of a sustainable home. It is an honor to have a second opportunity to help them achieve their vision. “
Just last month, Montgomery and four colleagues founded Gate House Strategies LLC, a new consulting firm, of which he is a founding partner. The new company will focus on FHA / Ginnie Mae / HUD and Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac policies, as well as programmatic compliance and litigation assistance, including origination, service, claims and asset management; strategic growth opportunities; Technology; Social housing; and disaster recovery.
On Wednesday June 9th, Montgomery will join the Five Star Institute at the presentation of the Government Forum 2021: A Virtual Event. He will attend the Eye on the Horizon session to discuss how industry and government can move the mortgage process forward.
